This piece was stylized to be like a mermaid belly dancer. I used different colors of scales to try to imitate the way fish scales glisten and can seem to change color. After months of this set sitting in my craft room waiting for me to repair it I became very motivated to make some new changes and finish this set for the Myth and Legends contest hosted by

I made this piece a few years ago [link] and thought it was time to make some improvements. The chainmail torso strap and woven ties have been replaced with 2oz leather with cowrie shells hand-sewn on. The lion's paw shell has been drilled and wire wrapped on with 12ga aluminum wire to a belt that has also been decorated with cowrie shells. The anodized aluminum scales are stitched onto a push-up style C cup and woven together in a European 4-1 weave for the belt. The chains hanging are enameled copper and aluminum. This set includes the bra, belt, 2 necklaces, and the purple sarong.
