Mermaid diaphanization / ghost — Description
Diaphanization is a real process aimed at making the muscles of the specimen transparent. Different pigments are used which are fixed on the bones and cartilages according to their density.
This technique only applies to small animals and fetuses, so a human-sized mermaid, even if it existed, could not be treated like this.
Also the technique requires that the skin be removed first, the presence of hair on my drawing is therefore abnormal but I found it better that way because it give it a more ghostly appearance.I also made the choice to put a fishtail and fish bones on the whole lower body rather than taking inspiration from marine mammals for aesthetic reasons, even if that makes it a biological aberration.
