Description First design sketch I did for Suki on the thread.

Original Post: [link]

The idea for Suki that the mostly anon writer had was what started Singularity for me, more or less, and compared to many of the other characters, she's changed little compared to her original concept.

Little things like having the alloy plating show up on her knuckles and all that might still make it in. The gun she's using on page two is roughly the same one as in here!

The pad thing was a zero-g freefall simulator of a kind.

Again, since the post it was based off of might not always be available down the road, here's the original fic that started me off:

Suki did not know how the Singularity had come about. No one did. The world had simply changed overnight. One month ago Kyoshi had been what it had always been, a village of bamboo and cedar wood huddled on the small island for which it was named. Then the Singularity came. Great structures of glass and steel alive with electronic neon had woven themselves out of thin air. Suki had woken between the crisp sheets of an uptown apartment, a Magnum 9mm in one hand and a Bowie knife in the other. A bag of mescaline capsules had been on her bedside table. The bag had been mostly empty. She had wondered idly how she had managed to secure so much mescaline outside the Earth Kingdom. The thought had passed quickly. She had spent the morning in a freefall simulator practicing zero-g martial arts. She had been hired to kill a Fire Nation businessman who had taken temporary lodgings aboard a pleasure ship in circumlunar space. She worked well in such conditions. Moreover the pay would be good.

Half the day had passed before she became properly cognisant of her surroundings. The sense that something was deeply wrong had stolen upon her as she exited her cab at the shuttle launch site. The military-grade marvel of metal alloys and light polymers that now made up most of her skeleton had been part of her ever since she got into the business ... and yet she *knew* that things had been different yesterday. She had been a different person. Kyoshi had been a different city. No, not even a city--just a village, huddled on a small, green island off the mainland...

Then full memory had borne down on her like a hammer, and vertigo had overwhelmed her. She had run. Run from the shuttle launch site. Run from Kyoshi, city and island both. Half certain that she was made or dreaming.

She had taken a fast ship to the mainland. There she had found that the world had changed everywhere. Changed beyond recognition. But only she seemed really aware of it. When she cornered a man in Ba Sing Se and pressed him for his memories of the time before the Singularity, he had looked at her as though she were mad. Her hopes had risen when she learned Sokka was in the city, indeed had been appointed the Emperor's chief scientist. Perhaps she could secure a meeting with him somehow?

Then the Fire Nation had attacked, and necessity had forced her to take shelter with Ba Sing Se's citizens in the immense undercity...

Not sure why, that whole "same characters, different world, what now?" kind of AU just sorta spoke to me.
