The Mentor — Description

A character in our lore loosely based on my cousin, who practically raised me. We don't have as much contact as I wish we did these days, but we're busy adults in different towns, what can ya do? I'm still grateful for all she did to help me grow up. Think of this character not as she is, but as she appeared to a scared twelve-year-old who desperately needed a big sister.
The Sonder Witch's cousin became her greatest role model in her assumption of the title. The Mentor doesn't half understand most of that magic bullshit, but she knows the Witch does, and she trusts her doofus cousin implicitly. Her misgivings are instead mostly with Dusk Alimar, added to their little friend group in 2014 and immediately forming a heated sort of sibling rivalry. The Mentor, one to talk she'll admit, butted heads with Dusk over power and responsibility, viewing him as too emotionally unstable to be trusted as much as the Sonder Witch insisted. She felt her suspicions were confirmed when the team rediscovered the lost Staff of Dirck Storm, and the traumatized energies within drove Dusk absolutely insane. The Mentor had to rescue both her cousin and Indianapolis from Dusk's energy-siphoning rampage, and she was the first person to attack when Dusk came crawling back from the dead. She couldn't deny results, however, even if she could still argue with them, as together they then vanquished the Devil himself. This redemptive teamwork persuaded the Mentor that even if Dusk didn't belong with the Thórsfoglana, he could at least be trusted to learn from his weaknesses and develop a team of his own. She still won't forgive him for eating her sandwich out of the fridge tho.
Design notes, the Mentor doesn't have any powers, she just like knows kung fu or something, this is our Master Splinter. I wanted therefore to experiment with a more athletic style, test if I'm not just reliant on silhouette to accumulate style points. I looked at a few Helmschmied armors for inspiration on the detail work. I wanted to give her the aura of a knight in shining armor without overly beefing up said armor. Think Black Widow and you've basically got this character's skill set. I'm really proud of that finger gun XD It's such a dumb concept but I got too attached to it to back out, and I'm glad I didn't.
