So….. Did the blood blade just come out of Paul after he died or was the executioner just it really annoyed and decided to switch out the axe for a blade?

looks like the executioner's axe is blunt, so he bashed Paul's head off first and then made the blood blade so he can give the rest of his "customers" cleaner deaths.
