It's honestly disgusting how many people try to force this take. Critical thinking IS essential, questioning authority is what lifted our quality of life out of the victorian era, and doing your own research is the single most important skill people should learn.

The news brought it on itself. The government brought it on itself. If it wants trust back, blaming critical thinking is NOT the way to do it. How about stop purposefully slandering some people and covering for others? How about stop pushing dangerous situations, and giving vague, if even existent apologies months after the damage is already done? How about stop trying to groom people into believing certain groups of people are the source of all the world's problems?

They have noone to blame but themselves for eroded trust.
