Potterhead — Description
And nostalgia strikes back.

You know, now that it's "ending" I start to look back when I first read the first Harry Potter book. I was 11, and our teacher said we had to read the Philosopher's Stone for the end of year test. I loved it, and would carry that book wherever I went, and read a bit every night before I went to sleep. On weekends I would stay reading until late at night, page after page, not wanting to miss a single word.

On 2003 the 5th book came out, and I didn't want to wait for a whole year to get the translation, so I bought the book in english. I already knew a bit of english because my mom made me take classes from a young age, but saying that I didn't like it was an understatement. But hell!! I wanted to read that book so bad! So ther I carried the book AND a small pocket dictionary with me all the time. I was surprised when I found myself actually enjoying it, and I did the same with the other two books.

2007, I can't even explain the excitement I felt when I got my copy of the Deathly Hallows! I took it and went to the house of my best friend, who is also a potterhead, and I translated little parts of it for her. I barely slept that night because I couldn't stop reading, and ate the book up in few hours.

Next week I'm turning 21, it's been exactly 10 years.
Next week I'll be queuing for the cinema with some friends to watch the last Harry Potter film.

And guess what, now I love english so much that I'm studying translation. Life is weird.
