Dimitri - Reference — Description

Here's another old ref, this time from 2021. I'll most likely be changing his last name at some point, and maybe one day I'll redraw his ref, but for now I'm pretty happy with it!
Here's a long winded explanation of some of his lore:
Dimitri was the royal physician before the kingdom began falling apart. He never really enjoyed tending to the royals' ailments and greatly preferred pursuing his own research. So when people began mysteriously dying out in the nearby forest, he found that to be a far more interesting thing to focus on. Upon examination, he found a mycelial substance (eventually called the mycelial residue) inhabiting the dead. He took a sample of it back to the kingdom to study. The fungus consisted of a thick purple-ish slime that seemed to be capable of moving on it's own, although he wasn't sure where to.

After meeting Greer, someone who had a close interaction with a creature from legend and survived to tell the tale, Dimitri began to understand just how this mycelial residue functioned. The fungus would merge with the body, repairing injury faster than the body could, but replacing the scar tissue that would otherwise form in that area. After seeing this work on a living person, Dimitri decided to cut into his right arm and test the regenerative properties on himself.

The core of this universe's planet is mechanical beneath the natural surface, so Dimitri ends up within the earth and is attacked by one of the creatures that lurks within. This is how he ends up with the scar, blind eye, and cracked lense. He manages to stitch up many of his wounds, but the remainder of the mycelial residue he inserted into his arm covered many of his wounds before he could repair them himself.

Dimitri is a driven and sleep deprived man who craves knowledge and is this close to having a mental breakdown at any given moment. Lucky for him, he's great at hiding it and appears to be rather charismatic, if not a little strange. He's good at holding himself together and would mostly only break down when drunk. He loves to watch people and listen to them ramble about their interests as people in general just fascinate him. While he seems disinterested in most romantically, the right person will make him melt under any affection.

I plan to give him a cat someday. He is left handed and knows how to play the violin.
