Three Anaeets — Description
Costumes/outifts for my Clever Anaeet illustrations.
1. Peasant outfit: Wanted to keep in simple in colour, but hella layered up, scarves, aprons etc. I wanted to use purple but had to saturise it alot to keep the idea that she is poor but to keep with the Armenian style of layered and detailed clothing. This is my favourite outfit c:
2. Royal dress: she's obviously gone up in the world but I wanted her to keep some of the hues of her poorer dress, so I kept the purple skirt in, as if saying, sure I'm rich now, don't mean I don't remember what it's like to be poor. Gold and purple go so well together. The designs a bit iffy, pretty but it still looks a bit japanese to me. I couldnt find any wedding pictures for it so I had to improvise.
3. Travelling: This one has lots of symbolism in it really. At the beginning of the story, the prince meets Anaeet in his princewear, beautifully embroidered tunic and wine coloured shirt. Because she has to save him at the end, I wanted to give her his clothing, give her the red. Because at the end, he is the one needing to be rescued. She has the power now, like he had at the beginning, and this is represented by the red. Her dress is also a lot stricter, the head scarf and the dark fur on her tunic. Here she is formidable.
