Basic Shading Tutorial — Description
I was doodling today and thinking about all the tips I've picked up over the years. I'm still learning, of course, but I thought, "if I'd been told all these things right at the start, would I have improved faster?" So I decided to throw together a little tutorial summing up the major points I've learned by studying what other artists do. I'm no expert, but I did my best.

I drew it entirely on Paint Shop Pro 9 with my tablet, no reference. I didn't bother with detail and pretty lines and stuff, but I think it conveys my techniques pretty well. Hope it helps someone somewhere at least a little.
