Description Did this when I was bored.

This picture is my own rendition of the monster/kaiju called Deathla, an alien monster that was supposed to fight Godzilla in the film Godzilla 3D to the Max, a 40 minute movie directed by Yoshimistu Banno. Unfortunately, the film was cancelled due to the upcoming Godzilla movie that is planned for release in 2014 by Legendary Pictures (Although Banno is working on the 2014 film as a producer).

Banno has directed a Godzilla movie before - that being the 'unique' 1971 movie Godzilla vs. Hedorah (also known as "Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster" - [link] ). Yoshimitsu Banno was so pleased with Hedorah that he started writing another Godzilla film after wrapping his first entry in the long-running series.
An unnamed project, dubbed "Godzilla vs. Hitodah" on the site, was his first attempt (which would see Godzilla battling a starfish that was mutated by pollution), but he abandoned it in favor of a direct sequel to his 1971 Godzilla film called "Godzilla vs. Hedorah 2", (which would show Godzilla battling a second Hedorah in Africa).
However, Tomoyuki Tanaka, who was hospitalized during the production of Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971), was extremely dissatisfied with the final product and went as far as to tell Banno that he had "ruined Godzilla!"
So Tanaka immediately barred Banno from making another Godzilla film. In fact, Banno was never allowed to direct another Toho film again, reduced to assistant director for Prophecies of Nostradamus (1974) and as overseer of the animated TV show Cashan: Robot Hunter (1988).
According to Banno though, from later interviews conducted with him, Godzilla vs. Hedorah 2 was actually still being worked on after he was removed from the project. Although who the new director would have been is unknown, but Jun Fukuda seems the most likely candidate considering that he would step up to direct the next three Godzilla films. If the film was going to keep its Africa setting at this stage is not known. The project was eventually scrapped, and three more proposed projects would be introduced that following year before finally settling on Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972).
Due to Tomoyuki Tanaka's death in 1997, Banno has now tried to get back into making another Godzilla movie. In fact, some fans believe that this movie was a "disguised" sequel to Godzilla vs. Hedorah.

Plot Summary:
A new extraterrestrial monster called Deathla appears on Earth, before awakening Godzilla from hibernation in the Iguazu Falls (located between Argentina and Brazil). A battle ensues, progressing to Mexico City and finally concluding in Las Vegas.
(It should be noted that the 1st story draft was to have the final battle take place in New York, at the site of the September 11th Terrorist Attacks)

No official image of Deathla has ever been shown, but director Yoshimistu Banno has described Deathla as similar to Hedorah in appearance, but with more of a upright standing posture. Deathla is also red in color, with a slimy texture and a face like a human's skull. The creature has bony spikes down its back and on the shoulders. The creature may have multiple arms, legs, etc. due to the fact that it can probably recreate those parts of its body. Furthermore, it has multiple forms; each incorporating skull imagery to emphasize its deathly character.

Form 1: Locust Form - The creature splits into a large swarm of insects that use their sharp fangs to quickly devastate crops and forests.

Form 2: Mushroom Form - Would spread like a fungus to infest an environment.

Form 3: Slug Form - Deathla's central form is a shape-shifting, slug like monster with flexible red-purple skin and vertical eyes.

Form 4: Monster/Kaiju Form - A huge humanoid beast with a skeletal head. (Shown Above)

The creature consumes Chlorophyll - the green pigment that is vital for plant's photosynthesis (absorbing energy from light) - and without which all life on the planet would die out. Deathla’s weapons include poisonous sludge, constricting tendrils, paralyzing fluids, and a crimson energy beam.

In terms of Godzilla's character, Godzilla would again become his heroic “Save the Earth” persona of the 1970s rather than keep with the monster’s more aggressive and antagonistic portrayal as seen in the recent Toho movies.
In addition to a personality change, the King of the Monsters would also display a talent unseen since Godzilla vs. Hedorah...
Godzilla would fly again!

Well, with Godzilla 2014 on the way, this project has joined the list of Toho movie put in the recycle bin. In somes ways, it's probably for the best, as the chances are it would have been much weirder than its predecessor.
As for Deathla, the monster's fate is left unknown - maybe we'll see him in a future Godzilla game (I'd love to see him in Kaiju Combat.)
