I love painting waterfalls! There is just something about the softness of the white falling water surrounded by rough darker stone surfaces. I used a bright sunlit green to emphasize the grassy path. Another thing that I experimented with was breaking the rule of thirds and pushing the main focal area way up and leaving the whole lower area in low contrast. Most of these things were not planned from the beginning but evolved throughout the painting process.
