basilisk — Description
this little cameo depicts a young boy frightened to discover that a snake's egg hatched by a hen is born a basilisk, a legendary creature that if you remember they also used for Harry Potter.
Here I have "fun" (but with great difficulty) to emerge from the dark profile of the beast that seems to laugh at the horror that inspires!
not a drawing but a print of a zinc plate processed with the intaglio technique of mezzotint.

questo piccolo cameo raffigura un giovanetto spaventato nello scoprire che da un uovo di serpente covato da una gallina è nato un basilisco, una creatura leggendaria che se ricordate hanno anche usato per Harry Potter.
qui mi sono "divertita" (ma con molta fatica) a far emergere dal buio il profilo della bestia che sembra ridere dello spavento che suscita!
non è un disegno ma una stampa di una lastra di zinco lavorata con la tecnica calcografica della maniera nera.
