I'm posting a picture of Curtis and Narissa today.

I have like, 2 main OCs , they're for a comic I'm doing, they're the Saytr girl, her name is Narissa, and a royal guard, his name is Curtis. Β I can do a quick drawing of curtis and narissa and post it.
I saw that you are (were?) working on a project of your own that included a character named Haruhi Miyu, would you mind if I drew her for the art trade? She's very cute!
Also, going out of your comfort zone is the best way to learn, so I think you should challenge yourself and draw anthros, you can only learn more from the experience.

I decided to learn more on anatomy so I can make my art look more anime-like and you can check my newest artwork to see how it looks and if you could critique, it would be awesome!
( Everything I did on that artwork was new to me, from body proportions to shading so it was a little hard ;n; )

Your two critiques kinda gave me an idea to somehow focus a little more on shadows and background aswell. The thing with the backgrounds is that, I really have no idea on how properly make them lol they're just illusions so that the picture doesn't look empty. XD

Effort is what you put into the piece, not what medium you use. If I did a two minute sketch of Mr Krabs on paper and you spent two hours on a completed digital piece of Mr Krabs you'd have put more effort. I just prefer traditional mediums right now because my graphics tablet died last summer.Β
I know the basics of doing art trades ( doing artwork for another deviant and getting a piece in return), but is there anything specific I need to know? Like is it similar to a commission with specific guidelines for the artwork, or is it theme based? Sorry, I'm really new to DA and I've never been a part of any other art community.
I can send some tutorials on drawing backgrounds and shading if that would help.
Also, sorry if this is kinda intrusive but, your profile says that you're an art student, how long have you been taking classes? I'm self taught.

Yep, but most of the time, traditional works have more effort put into it because there's tons of shortcuts in digital nowadays (atleast for me) that's sad, I really don't have a drawing tablet and I just draw traditionally and turn it digital lol
There's really nothing specific lol It's just, you draw someone's character in your way and they do the same in return, you decide the background / poses etc. If they specify that they want a specific pose, you do that.Β
I'm currently watching TONS of tutorials right now lol -- mostly Xabio Arts lmao
I'm actually not a student LOL (I really wanna change that right now lol) i was planning to take art classes but then my parents asked me to just get into Information Technology which annoys me so I became a self taught artist aswell.
Uh, I really just decide on how long I usually take doing them and how much effort I put into it. It's up to you to how much you think they are worth tbh.Β

Thanks for the information! We could do the art trade any time you have free, I set some time aside to draw everyday. Which of your characters do you want me to draw? I'm willing to draw humans, animals, anthros, ect. I have a couple options for you, i saw on your commissions tab that you don't draw anthros, do you consider saytrs anthro? If you do that's fine, you can use my self portrait as a reference.
As for tutorials, if you get on youtube, I really find DrawwithJazza and MarkCrilley to have super helpful art advice.
I'll be taking an art appreciation class for a college credit this fall, along with an art class for highschool credit.

Ehehe, I don't have anthros and all I have is about 9 OCs, 7 of them being Game OCs and 2 of them being Normal OCs lol I could maybe try drawing anthros, I really want to try lol I probably just need more practice with it.Β
